How to call from your room


You will need to credit your account before you can make a call. You can do this by registering your credit/debit card details with customer services (Please see Payment Details below).

Or you can purchase £5 cards from your Halls of Residence


Lift the handset and key #2

  • Enter your 10 digit PIN, which is shown under the scratch panel on the reverse of your card. Each time you make a call you will be told the balance remaining on your card and given dial-tone. Then you can dial the number you require.

  • Once you have finished a call, you can make a follow-on call by pressing # on your phone key pad, you will then be asked for the next number to call.

To transfer credit from a card to an account

In order to access voice mail there needs to be credit available on your account

Payment

We accept all major debit/credit cards except Visa Electron and American Express. The minimum transaction amount is £10. Every time you use your card you will be told the amount of credit remaining and a warning ‘beep’ will sound when you are reaching the end of your credit.

Dial up Internet Access

To use myFoneFRED for internet access follow these four easy steps.


1) Dial-up access to the Internet is available through the phone line in your room and to make use of this service you will need a computer with a standard analogue modem (as the set-up procedure for Internet connections is different for each type of computer, please consult your computer’s help-line for advice on procedure for connections to the Internet).


2) Plug your modem into the socket adaptor in place of the desk phone. Tip: you may want to get yourself a phone doubler plug.


3) The phone number to dial to connect to the Internet is shown here below :

Username and Password should both be Guest


The #2 connects you to the telephone service, the commas provide a pause to allow time for the connection and the 10-digit PIN is the same as you use to make normal calls, 08456389845 is our preferred ISP**


4) Log off/Shut down as normal when you have finished


** The ISP quoted above 0845 638 9845 is for access to Milnet. You may connect to the ISP of your choice, it is up to you…


Important Please Note:


Please ensure that you have sufficient funds for the duration of the internet session before connecting. You will not be able to recharge your myFoneFRED account whilst online


Set your modem for a duration timeout of at least 30 seconds .
